At approximately 11:30 last night, Historic City News was updated that a missing jet skier came ashore near the St. Augustine Beach Resort in St. Augustine Beach. “He is well and being reunited with his family” according to SJSO SGT Chuck Mulligan.
At first report, about an hour previously, we were told that the Sheriff’s Office, along with St Johns County Marine Rescue and the US Coast Guard were actively searching for a missing Jet Skier who was last seen off the coast of Vilano Beach in the ocean.
The 52 year old man and his sister left the Intracoastal Waterway shortly before 7:00 p.m. and headed out the inlet into the Atlantic.
According to his sister, her brother fell off the Gold, Black and White watercraft and could not re-board to return from the ocean. The sister headed to shore and notified emergency responders that assistance was needed. The sister indicated that her brother was floating with a two tone blue flotation vest, and was still with the watercraft.
Sheriff’s Office helicopter “Air One†and vessels from Marine Rescue and Coast Guard responded to the area and began an open water search effort.
