Public Affairs Specialist Karen Pan has reported to Historic City News that the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners will have a Special Reorganization Meeting at 9:00 am on Tuesday, November 18th.
The meeting will be held in the County Auditorium, located at 500 San Sebastian View in St. Augustine. The meeting will include recognition of outgoing Commissioners Ben Rich, District 3, and James E. Bryant, District 5.
Commissioners-Elect Mark P. Miner, District 3, and Ken Bryan, District 5, will then be given Oaths of Office by the Honorable John M. Alexander, Administrative Judge of St. Johns County. Following the swearing in of the new Commissioners, the Board will elect a Chair and Vice-Chair for the upcoming year.
The newly seated Board of County Commissioners will then consider its Consent Agenda, but no regular items are scheduled to be heard.
Other events scheduled for the day include a 10:30 am closed session special attorney-client meeting, in accordance with Section 286.011(8), Florida Statutes, to allow County Attorney Patrick McCormack to meet with the Board regarding settlement negotiations and litigation expense strategy pertaining to a specific lawsuit (Dixie Properties of St. Augustine, Inc. v. James E. Bryant et al. Case No. 3:06-cv-462-J-32MMH, Inc. v St. Johns County, Case No. 3:06-CV-1113-J-25HTS).
Then, an Educational Session Special Meeting will be held at 1:30 pm in the Administration Conference Room on the second floor of the Administration Building, located at 500 San Sebastian View. The special educational workshop will be presented by McCormack to review the Code of Ethics for Public Officers and Employees, Quasi-Judicial Proceedings, Sunshine Law and Public Records. The public is welcome to attend the 1:30 Special Meeting.
