Historic City News was notified today by Kevin Kelshaw with the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office that three male subjects are wanted in connection with a burglary at Gate Trading Post in the 2700 block of A1A North that occurred early this morning.
Deputies responded to the business shortly after 5:00 a.m. after an employee arriving for work discovered the break in and the store ransacked.
The suspects turned off the power and entered the store. Once inside they disabled several surveillance cameras and then attempted to break into the ATM machine. The ATM machine was dismantled into three sections, but it was unknown this morning if any money was missing.
The suspects also attempted to enter the store safe but were unsuccessful. The only item known to be missing was a donation jar with an undetermined amount of cash. Damage to the store and equipment was estimated at $9,500.
The suspects were described as white males. One of the suspects was described as tall and slender wearing a black shirt, white ball cap or bandana with a dark colored scarf covering his nose and mouth.
The second suspect was wearing a black “Volcom†brand sweatshirt, dark pants and a black ball cap.
The third suspect, shown in the photos, was wearing a dark short sleeve shirt and a FSU ball cap.
