Historic City News learned about the ”Secret Code” Art Exhibit opening at The Gallery at Screen Arts beginning Friday October 3, 2008 – 6pm – Midnight. Live DJs will be spinning music for the duration. The show will run thru November 30, 2008.
Refreshments to appease the American palate will be served.
The exhibit will feature new works by self taught artists and friends, Gabriel Shaffer, Jesse Reno and ThinkMule (Jeremy Pruitt.) All three artists create work with rich surface qualities and other worldly narratives involving mythological characters and stylized figures.
The artists are sending in new work from all over the country; Oregon, Colorado and North Carolina.
It’s a great chance to see what’s happening RIGHT NOW in the art world! Screen Arts put together a description of the work and some photos to give you a little taste of what you’ll get Friday night. It should be a really sweet show and still pretty affordable for you aficionados.
According to Breanne at Screen Arts, “These artists are gaining some steam and some serious recognition. Come out, drink some cheap beer, load up on RapSnacks and enjoy the visuals.”
All the artists have an interest in and their works reflect qualities of visionary as well as primitive art. They share with us their viewpoints of the world around us, and the work transcends our reality to reveal new truths. The mysterious stories behind their works spark a dialogue with the viewer, allowing us to make up our own mind as to what the works are about. It seems that life itself and the struggle for expression are the driving forces behind their work and their honesty reverberates through their images. Visually stimulating and mentally arousing, this show is definitely worth checking out!
Please visit each artist’s personal website to get insight into their work.
