Slow Food Meeting

Historic City News has learned that on Monday, November 17th, at 6:30 P.M. Slow Food First Coast will hold a meeting at First Coast Technical College in Building C.

The Slow Food meeting will be handing out their First Annual John Barnes “Spirit of Slow Food” Award to a member of the local community who best embodies the principles that Slow Food First Coast champions.

In addition to presenting this award, Jennifer McCharen will lead a panel discussion including a number of guest speakers. McCharen spearheaded the Jacksonville Carbon Neutral Initiative and has since begun working in the field of sustainable agriculture with Down to Earth Farm in Duval County. Down to Earth Farm owners Brian and Kristen Lipinski are scheduled to attend.

A number of local farmers have been invited to attend and to share their experiences, challenges, successes and products with each other and with Slow Food First Coast members.
