Historic City Media was notified that the Public Works Department of the City of St. Augustine will begin its yearly sewer system smoke testing in specific areas of the city.
The testing will be conducted between 8:00 A.M. and 4:30 P.M. on Monday through Friday, beginning Monday, May 19th and ending July 31st.
The tests are performed to determine leaks in the city sewer system. The public should expect to see smoke coming out of manholes and possibly roof-top vent pipes on houses and buildings located in the testing areas; however the smoke is harmless and dissipates quickly.
Residents and businesses in the following areas will be affected:
South of Orange Street;
West of the Matanzas River (South Castillo Drive, Avenida Menendez and Marine Street);
East of the San Sebastian River (North Ponce de Leon Boulevard and Riberia Street); and
North of Cerro Street.
And also,
South of Poinciana Avenue;
West of Colony Street;
East of the San Sebastian River (Louise Street; and North Ponce de Leon Boulevard); and
North of Picolata Road and State Road 16.
If you have questions, concerns or need reasonable accommodations please contact the Public Works Department at 904-825-1040.
