Historic City News received this report from St Augustine Yacht Club Membership Chair Kathleen Floryan covering the Annual Christmas Tree Trimming Party last Friday night, December 5th.
Sixty new members were inducted by Commodore Jack Reilly. “This is a significant sign of growth and interest in our Yacht Club” said Kathleen Floryan, .
The Annual Christmas tree Trimming Party is also a time when toys for needy children are collected for area children. Over 100 gifts were brought to the club and will be distributed through the coordinated efforts of Kathy and James Gajewski.
The St Augustine Yacht Club is also gearing up for the Annual Regatta of Lights this coming Saturday December 13, 2008. The public is invited to watch the parade of boats in the bayfront north of the Bridge of Lions starting at 6PM. This is a juried parade and awards are distributed by the St Augustine Yacht Club following the parade.
The St.Augustine Yacht Club is the oldest Yacht Club in Florida dating back to 1873. St Augustine Yacht Club is a non-profit yachting and social club located east of the Lighthouse on Anastasia Island overlooking Salt Run Inlet and the Dunes of Conch Island.
