Street closings for Shriner’s Parade

Posted on 10/16/2008 By Historic City News

Shrine Club
Historic City News learned that a parade sponsored by the St. Augustine Shrine Club will be held along San Marco Avenue on Saturday, October 25 in conjunction with the St. Augustine Shrine Club Ceremonial.

The parade will necessitate the closing of San Marco Avenue between Picolata Road and May Street starting at 9:00 a.m. until the completion of the event at approximately 11:30 a.m. In addition, Picolata Road between Ponce de Leon Blvd. and San Marco Avenue will be closed prior to the event for the staging of the parade units.

San Marco Avenue south of May Street and May Street itself will be open but will experience higher than normal congestion during the event. Traffic normally using San Marco Avenue north of May Street should use Ponce de Leon Blvd as an alternate route.

Residents of neighborhoods east of San Marco Avenue and north of Macaris Street should use Hilldreth Drive as an alternate route.

Residents of neighborhoods east of San Marco Avenue and south of Genoply Street should use May Street as an alternate route.
