Three arrested at Cornell Road house party

Three St. Johns County men were arrested on a charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and two of them were also charged with conducting an open house party this morning according to a report received by Historic City News this afternoon.

Two of the suspects, identified as Dustin Brandon Burt, and Jonathan Edward Gagnon, both 19, and both residing at 207 Cornell Rd., were charged with open house party and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The third suspect, identified as Noah Bradley Bryant, 18, 5254 Ellen Ct., was charge with contributing to the delinquency of a minor for allegedly transporting the victim to the party.

All three were booked into the County Jail pending a first appearance hearing Sunday morning.

The investigation began at 3:00 a.m. this morning when deputies responded to Flagler Hospital after a female juvenile was dropped off by two male subjects and she was unconscious in critical condition. Deputies then attempted to identify the female after they learned that she attended a party in the 200 block of Cornell Rd. and they began to contact potential witnesses who attended the same party.

One of the witnesses gave deputies the girl’s phone number that he had located on her MySpace page. The number was then tracked to a St. Augustine Beach home where the girl’s father was contacted by St. Augustine Beach Police. The father thought the girl was in her room sleeping.

When the victim’s father discovered that she was not there, he responded to the hospital where he positively identified his 14-year old daughter. The girl was then taken to Shands Jacksonville Hospital and as of this afternoon she has been upgraded to fair condition.

The investigation revealed that the two men residing at Cornell Rd. hosted a party to celebrate the 20th birthday of a friend.

Witnesses stated that the party may have been attended by up to 60 people, most of which were under the age of 18. There was also a large amount of alcohol allegedly being consumed by the attendees.

The 14-year old female became so intoxicated she lost consciousness and the two residents attempted to revive her by dousing her with a hose, placing her in a shower and forcing her to eat bread.

Two other men, who were attending the party, thought the girl needed medical attention, but were asked to leave the house. The two ended up transporting her to the hospital and were credited with getting her there just in time.

The investigation is continuing according to Media Relations Officer Kevin Kelshaw with the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office.
