New York Times Best-selling author Tim Dorsey will make an appearance at the Bartram Trail Branch Library on Saturday, February 7 according to an announcement received at Historic City News this afternoon.
The activities begin at 1:00 pm with Dorsey reading from his latest novel, which will be followed by a question and answer period and book signing. Books and t-shirts will be available for sale at the event.
A resident of Tampa, Dorsey is the author of eleven Florida-themed books, with the most recent title Nuclear Jellyfish being released tomorrow, January 27, 2009. In the new novel, Dorsey continues the unusual saga of Serge A. Storms, the homicidal maniac who loves Florida so much he’ll kill for it, literally.
Dorsey was born in Indiana, but grew up in the small town of Riviera Beach, Florida, just north of Miami. After graduating in 1983 from Auburn University with a degree in Transportation, Dorsey worked as a reporter for The Alabama Journal in Montgomery and the Tampa Tribune. He left reporting in August of 1999 to focus on writing full-time. Dorsey, 47, currently lives with his wife and two daughters in Tampa.
Dorsey has written eleven novels in several languages, including Florida Roadkill, Cadillac Beach, Torpedo Juice and Hurricane Punch. His books are mysteries based in Florida, and readers are likely to be entertained and learn about Florida history simultaneously. Dorsey’s books have been compared to other popular Florida writers such as Carl Hiaasen, Dave Barry, James Hall and Randy Wayne White.
Dorsey’s appearance at the Bartram Trail Branch Library is free to the public and sponsored by the Bartram Trail Friends of the Library. The Library is located at 60 Davis Pond Boulevard in St. Johns, Florida. For more information about Dorsey’s appearance call (904) 827-6960.
