Commissioners decided that 10:30 p.m. was not a good time to refashion an ordinance banning vending in the Plaza.
Following a briefing by City Attorney Ronald Brown, the Commission decided to start the process to repeal the ordinance on the June 22nd agenda and to discuss a new ordinance before its July 13th meeting.
“We have to have a new ordinance, based on what the courts are likely to uphold,” Brown said. He noted recent court decisions have allowed the selection of what can be allowed or banned in public spaces, “but we need enough of a standard for police and management to be able to follow.”
