St. Johns River Community College employee and Project Praise site coordinator Britt Williams reported to Historic City News that college employees were able to help make Christmas a little brighter for 59 children with donations of toys, gifts and other goodies to the Project Praise organization.
“College employees really look forward to getting their sponsored child. Some even shop together for items on their child’s wish list and then finish their efforts with small wrapping parties,” Williams said.
According to Williams, the College is one of the largest contributors in Putnam County to donate to the federal program managed by Putnam County School District members.
Williams said, “This project would not be the success it has become without the generosity of the faculty, administration and staff from all three campuses. I think it brings us closer together as an organization.”
Children selected by the organization who are experiencing economic hardship, will receive their gifts just in time for Christmas.
Williams said the Christmas project, one of the many projects sponsored annually by Project Praise, has become a College tradition.
Williams added that this is the sixth year the College has participated in the event.
