County and city respond to garage fire

Posted on 02/04/2009 By Historic City News

Public Information Officer Jeremy Robshaw reported to Historic City News that St. Johns County Fire Rescue and the City of St. Augustine Fire Department jointly responded to a residential structure fire that occurred in the 2600 block of Usina Street

Upon arrival on the scene at approximately 2:50 p.m. Wednesday, crews found a fully involved two bay garage with the fire beginning to spread to the adjacent house.

Firefighters established a water supply and began an aggressive fire attack which prevented further fire spread into the residence while bringing the garage fire under control. The fire was contained to the garage without further damage to the residence, but the garage and its contents were a total loss.

There were no injuries reported during this incident, and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation by St. Johns County Fire Rescue and the State Fire Marshals Office.
