Ringing in the New Year

Haven Horse Ranch, a St Augustine non-profit, 501c3 horse ranch for children, announced today that they are bringing nationally acclaimed and family friendly comedian Jeff Allen to the area for two shows this New Years Eve. “The night’s festivities are being offered as an alternative to a ‘typical’ New Year’s Eve party. If you don’t want to simply stay at home, but going out partying all night isn’t your idea of fun, then come on out an join us for a family friendly night, but be prepared, I’ve seen him, Jeff is extremely funny and entertaining!” says Board Member Janet Tillman, of Tillman State Farm Agency. “I laughed until it hurt.” The evening’s festivities will be held at Crosswater Community Church’s brand new campus in Nocatee (Ponte Vedra) at the entrance to Davis Park. Seating is limited and Tickets are now on sale for both shows, 6:00 PM for those who want to then go to dinner or to another New Years Eve event and 9:00 PM for those who want to make this their evening’s event. Limelight Theatre offers special New Year’s Eve show

Buglisi Dance Theatre

The Buglisi Dance Theatre, headed by Artistic Director Jacqulyn Buglisi, is known for its exciting expressionism, portrayed in dance form. Comprised of young talented dancers, their mission is to expand the language of dramatic dance relevant to today’s audiences. This Dance troupe has been honored with The American Dance Guild Award for Artistic Excellence for their exciting and innovative theatrical dance repertoire. Choreography is by Jacqulyn Buglisi; each dance a little dramatic story complete within itself; for example, the opening number, titled “Interplay”, describes events at a once-upon-a-time Viennese picnic in the Tyrolean Garden of the Emperor’s palace. Former U.S. Senator George McGovern to speak at FOL SE Branch Annual Meeting

The Friends of the Southeast Branch Library are pleased to announce that former United States Senator George McGovern, D-S.D., will address the membership at the annual meeting to be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 in the main conference room of the Southeast Branch Library. The public is invited to attend. Senator McGovern will talk about his recent book, “Abraham Lincoln,” and take questions from the audience. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing. Light refreshments will be served following the presentation. A native of South Dakota, and part-time resident of St. Augustine, Senator McGovern is the father of five and a decorated World War II pilot. He holds M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in American history and political science. A professor of history and political science, author, lecturer, first Director of the Food for Peace Program, 22-year congressman, Democratic presidential nominee, United Nations delegate , United Nations global ambassador on hunger and Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient are just a few of Senator McGovern’s impressive accomplishments that will ensure an informative and interesting presentation.
