FSU Head Coach Bobby Bowden retires

Posted on 12/01/2009 By Historic City News

Governor Crist’s press office reported to Historic City News today that, as expected, Florida State University’s Head Football Coach, Bobby Bowden, has decided to retire.

In a statement from the governor, Crist said, “Bobby Bowden is undoubtedly one of the greatest football coaches of all time.”

Throughout his career, Coach Bowden always led his team with heart and character.

“As a loyal Nole, I think the world of him and wish only the best for him and his family,” Crist said. “Florida State University’s football program has been blessed to have him as their coach for the past 34 seasons. God bless you, Coach!”

Local die-hard Seminole fan and FSU alum Herbie Wiles was refusing to believe the rumors of Bowden’s retirement at coffee this morning. Since Wiles’ son, Doug, is a University of Florida graduate and equally die-hard Gators fan, we didn’t bather to call him for a comment.
