Home invasion robbery in Ponte Vedra Beach

Sgt. Charles E. Mulligan reported to Historic City News this morning that a Ponte Vedra Beach resident is safe following a night that found them bound and victimized by three unknown gunmen.

The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the armed home invasion robbery which occurred in the 100 block of South Roscoe Blvd. just before midnight Thursday evening.

The homeowner, Lita Hart, wife of Brig Hart, who was alone at the time, was overtaken by three men after they entered the residence through an unlocked door. As the victim was being held at gunpoint by one of the men, another ordered the resident to take them to the safe and release its locking mechanism.

After acquiring the various items of property from the safe, the victim was bound and the men began looking for any additional safes that may have existed in the home.

After a brief time inside the residence the robbers exited the home, leaving the bound victim secured within the house.

A K-9 team tracked the path of the suspects, locating items and other evidence associated with the robbery along the trail. The K-9 lost the scent in the Christ Redeemer Church parking lot near the home, where it is believed the suspects may have had a vehicle waiting.

The suspects were described as; large white men, approximately 25-35 years of age, wearing dark clothing, ski masks and gloves.
