Library receives award from state association

Florida Library Association Executive Director Faye Roberts reported to Historic City News that her Association presented 13 awards to libraries, individuals and library supporters from across Florida on Friday, May 8th.

Award winners were recognized at the Association’s 86th annual conference held at the Doubletree Hotel at the Entrance to Universal Orlando in Orlando, FL.

Public Library Web Site Award – St. Johns County Public Library, Debra Rhodes Gibson, Director, St. Augustine, FL
St. Johns County Library Advisory Board nominated the library’s web site for its attention to patron satisfaction and use of Web 2.0 tools, social bookmarking utilities and patron book reviews.

The Florida Library Association is a non-profit organization with over 1,000 members that include libraries, library staff and those who support libraries.

FLA works to develop the skills of librarians and support staff. It also works closely with the information industry and the library community and advocates for excellence in all types of library service within the State of Florida.

The Florida Library Association (FLA), a chapter of the American Library Association, is the state association of libraries and their employees and supporters. Among its more than 1,000 members are Floridians who work in, support, and govern libraries. Organizational members include libraries and organizations that serve or support libraries as well as library vendors. Underlying this diversity is a common interest in libraries and the provision of access to information. The Association provides activities and programs that have earned it a leadership position for all areas of librarianship.

The Florida Library Association:
