Historic City News has learned that the National Rifle Association (NRA) is giving FREE 1-year memberships to everyone who wants to join.
NRA is trying to build up their membership to fight pending legislation that they say impacts our right to keep and bear arms.
“It is very important that anti-gun congressmen see how many people they will have to fight to get their legislation through. As a member, you’ll have a powerful voice in protecting our Constitution, plus a wide range of benefits that add up to savings, convenience, and fun.” said Wayne LaPierre, NRA Executive Vice President
Dismayed by the lack of marksmanship shown by their troops, Union veterans Col. William C. Church and Gen. George Wingate formed the National Rifle Association in 1871. The primary goal of the association would be to “promote and encourage rifle shooting on a scientific basis,” according to a magazine editorial written by Church.
After being granted a charter by the state of New York on November 17, 1871, the NRA was founded.
