Historic City News is pleased to be able to report on one public-private success story; Nelmar Terrace Park at the end of Nelmar Avenue in North City.
The neighborhood park is bisected by a brick walkway and flanked by native foliage.
Brett Sendler, Nursery Operations Instructor at Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind, recognized the Nelmar Terrace Neighborhood Association, City Parks Division and the school’s Dragon Flowers Program in a collaborative effort to develop the park recently before the St. Augustine City Commission.
The project was so successful that it was recognized by the Florida Nursery, Growers, and Landscape Association with its 2009 Award of Excellence in the Student Project – New Installation category.
