Gernie Gieger wants Historic City News readers to mark their calendars for a Pro Rodeo coming to the St. Johns County Fairgrounds on Friday and Saturday, January 23 and 24.
Professional rodeo performers from across the Southeast will be performing in a variety of rodeo events, including bull riding and barrel racing. The action starts at 8:00 pm each night. Tickets prices are just $12 for ages 12 to adult and $7 for students ages 6 to 11.
This Western-inspired event will feature entertainment for all ages including bull fighters, rodeo clowns, team and calf roping, barrel racing and bull riding.
Additionally, local youth will be invited to compete in youth barrel racing and roping competitions. “We’ll have some of the best bulls in the nation,” said Gieger, one of the rodeo’s organizers. Food and drinks will also be available.
The rodeo will be held under a new 2,000 capacity covered arena at the St. Johns County Fairgrounds. Along with the new arena, rodeo attendees will experience other Fairground upgrades such as additional restrooms, livestock barn improvements, additional lighting and increased bleacher seating.
Dust off your boots and head out to the Pro Rodeo on January 23 and 24 at 8:00 pm.
The St. Johns County Fairgrounds is located at 5840 SR 207 in Elkton, approximately seven miles west of the SR 207 and I-95 intersection.
