Historic City News has been alerted that detectives with the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office Robbery Section are seeking a man wanted in connection with a bank robbery this morning.
Deputies responded to a holdup alarm at the Prosperity Bank in St. Augustine Shores at 10:30 a.m. today.
Employees stated to officers that the man approached the counter, indicated that he had a weapon although no weapon was seen, and demanded money from the clerk.
An undisclosed amount of cash was turned over to the suspect who fled on foot northbound from the bank.
The suspect was described as a medium to dark skinned black male in his mid 20’s to early 30’s, 5’5”-5’7” tall, 155-170 pounds with a close cut beard. He was wearing a white collared, button up shirt with long sleeves and inside out, dark colored pants, white tennis shoes, and a black hat with white “x’s” all around it. He possibly fled the area in a gold passenger car.
