St. Johns County Fire Rescue (SJCFR) reported to Historic City News that they responded to a residential structure fire in the 4700 block of Avenue D at approximately 11:10pm Wednesday.
Crews were informed that the double wide mobile home had heavy flames showing and was possibly occupied.
Upon arrival, crews found the home fully involved in fire and one victim partially evacuated from the home.
The victim was found by St. Johns County Sheriffs Office deputies in the doorway of the home.
Deputies removed the victim and she was treated by SJCFR on scene for smoke inhalation and burn injuries.
The victim was then transported via air ambulance to Shands Hospital in Gainesville in critical condition.
SJCFR personnel began a defensive attack on the fire, and were able to bring the flames under control without incident. The home is listed as a total loss with a damage estimate in dollar figures not available at this time.
SJCFR and the State Fire Marshals Office are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
