Jeremy Robshaw SJCFR Public Information Officer reported to Historic City News that at approximately 3:40 a.m. this morning, St. Johns County Fire Rescue responded to a residential structure fire at 32 Seascape Circle.
A neighbor called 911 after hearing a loud boom and looking outside to find a neighbors home on fire.
Firefighters arrived on scene moments later and found a two-story ocean front structure with heavy fire visible on both levels and venting through the roof.
The home was primarily used as a vacation rental and was unoccupied at the time of the fire.
Firefighters established a water supply and began to extinguish the flames while protecting the adjacent structures.
The structure at 32 Seascape sustained heavy fire damage and will be listed as a total loss with a dollar loss estimated between $800,000 to $900,000 which includes building and contents.
The home located to the immediate South sustained heat damage to the soffit and exterior siding, but was otherwise protected from serious damage.
There were no injuries reported during this incident and the cause of the fire is under investigation by SJCFR and The State Fire Marshals Office.
