Historic City News has learned that Cindy Skrzycki, a columnist with Bloomberg financial news service, will be the final speaker for the 2008-2009 Flagler College Forum on Government and Public Policy.
Skrzycki will speak April 1, at 7 p.m., in the Flagler College Auditorium. Her topic will be “The Real Work of Government in the Obama Administration.”
Her work is featured on Bloomberg.com as well as in more than 300 print publications, including The Washington Post.
Before joining Bloomberg in 2005, Skrzycki was a business reporter for 18 years at The Washington Post, specializing in management and technology issues. In 1993, she launched a weekly column, “The Regulators,” which examines the gritty work of Washington regulation.
Before joining The Post, she was an associate business editor at “U.S. News & World Report,” specializing in transportation issues, and a Washington correspondent for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, where she covered the gamut of business issues. She also worked in the Washington Bureau of the Fairchild News Service, covering the steel industry, and was a business writer for The Buffalo News.
She is the author of a book called “The Regulators: The Anonymous Power Brokers Who Shape Your Life.” She also spends a lot of her time as a senior lecturer in the English Department at the University of Pittsburgh and chairman of the Pitt News Advisory Board.
All forums take place in the Flagler College Auditorium, 14 Granada St., at 7 p.m. Forums are free and open to the public, but seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Sign language interpreters are provided.
