County Administrator Michael D. Wanchick reported to Historic City News that last month was very busy for the St. Johns County Cultural Events Division hosting five great events including Stone Temple Pilots, Alan Jackson, Third Day, Lynyrd Skynrd, and Bonnie Raitt.
The 2009 concert season will wind down on Friday, November 13th, with a sold-out concert featuring the very popular Zac Brown Band.
“As the biggest season ever at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre comes to an end, staff wishes to thank everyone who supported the Amphitheatre by volunteering, purchasing a ticket, or even buying vegetables at the Farmers Market.” Wanchick said. “The overwhelming support of the community is what continues to make the Amphitheatre successful.”
Although the concert season is ending, the Cultural Events Division is kicking into high gear; preparing for the 3rd Annual Winter Wonderland.
This year Winter Wonderland will run from Friday, November 20th, through Sunday, January 3rd. All of the exciting Winter Wonderland activities will be returning including the Ice Rink, Ice Slide, Elf Village, visits from Santa Claus, Candy Cane Forest, the S’more pit, and Sleigh Rides.
New this year is the addition of the Blizzard Bounce House and the holiday train ride. Wanchick says, “Mark your calendars, get your ice skates out, and be ready for another wonderful holiday season!”
