Kevin Kelshaw reported to Historic City News this afternoon that three male suspects are being sought in connection with the beating of another man Wednesday evening.
Deputies responded to a report of a battery that occurred at 7:45 p.m. in the area of A1A South and Dondanville Rd.
Witnesses told deputies that the victim, a 49-year old St. Johns County man, was on a bicycle and was talking with one of the suspects in a parking lot. For no apparent reason, the suspect struck the victim in the head knocking him to the ground.
A second suspect got out of a vehicle and kicked the victim in the head while the third suspect, who also got out of the vehicle, began to pat the victim down.
The suspects then fled southbound on A1A South in a newer model possibly a Nissan Altima.
The victim was transported to Shands Jacksonville by air ambulance.
The three suspects were described as white males in their early 20’s. One was 6’2” tall with a thin athletic build with short reddish brown hair in a “buzz cut”. The second suspect was between 5’10”-6’ tall, with unknown colored short hair and wearing a ball cap backwards. The third suspect was about 5’10” tall, with a thin build and short blonde hair, wearing dark baggy shorts.
The vehicle was described as a gun metal gray or silver, newer model, possibly a 2005 Nissan Altima. The vehicle reportedly had a dent in the area of the right rear passenger door and had tinted windows.
