Historic City News was informed by the St. Johns County Public Works Department that South Leonardi Street at West King Street will be closed to all vehicular traffic from 7:00 a.m. Monday, November 9th, until 5:00 p.m. Friday, November 13th.
The intersection closure is necessary to install a storm-water drainage pipe and perform other underground utility work.
During the road closure, motorists will need to use Pellicer Lane as an alternate route. The eastbound West King Street detour will remain open and in place.
The pipe installation is part of a large infrastructure improvement project funded jointly by St. Johns County, the City of St. Augustine and a grant from the Florida Department of Transportation, being managed by St. Johns County.
The entire project is scheduled to be completed in early 2010. All area businesses remain open.
