St. Johns County has announced to Historic City News that West King Street will be closed to all vehicular traffic between Arenta Street and U.S. 1 from 7:00 pm Wednesday, July 8, until 7:00 am Thursday, July 9, 2009.
The road closure is necessary to install a storm water drainage pipe and is being done overnight to minimize impact to the public. The road will reopen promptly at 7:00 am.
During the road closure, detour signs will direct westbound motorists to Everett Street then north on Arenta Street to West King Street. The eastbound W. King Street detour will remain in place.
The pipe installation is part of a large infrastructure improvement joint project of St. Johns County, the City of St. Augustine and a grant from the Florida Department of Transportation. The entire project is scheduled to be completed in early 2010.
