2010 Sea Turtle Education Festival

Tara Dodson reported that Keepers of the Coast are preparing to host their 4th annual Sea Turtle Education Festival, according to an announcement received from Tara Dodson by local news reporters at Historic City News in St. Augustine.

“Families will have the opportunity to learn about ocean conservation from local experts as they participate in hands-on activities focused primarily on sea turtles and other coastal wildlife,” Dodson said.

Keepers of the Coast will also be unveiling their public art project.

The event will be held at the St. Augustine Beach Fishing Pier Pavilion on Saturday, April 17th from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

Dodson told Historic City News, “Kids of all ages can enjoy face painting, the exploratory beach education station, a coastal wildlife slideshow, and participate in the passport program.”

Other activities include shopping at earth friendly vendor booths for handmade jewelry and other unique items, enjoying food from local restaurant Purple Olive, and listening to music provided by local musicians such as BLUE, Saltwater Cowgirls and Aslyn and the Naysayers.

Beginning at 9:00 a.m., in partnership with the Life Insurance and Financial Services of The Bailey Group, Keepers of the Coast will conduct a clean-up of the park at the St. Johns County pier at St. Augustine Beach. It will be held on the north side of the pier and a prize will be awarded to the participant who collects the most cigarette butts at the park and adjacent beach.
