Syndicated Tampa radio personality Todd Clem, affectionately known as “Bubba the Love Sponge®” and heard each weekday morning on Cox radio’s WFYV-FM Rock 105 in Jacksonville, is using his celebrity status to benefit the families of local Deputy Sheriff James Anderson and two other fallen law enforcement officer’s families in other parts of the state.
The families of Captain Chad Reed of the Dixie County Sheriff’s Office, who was killed during a shootout in January, and, Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Patrick Ambroise, who was killed last week when his patrol vehicle was hit by another driver on the Florida Turnpike, will benefit from the proceeds of this year’s charity motorcycle event.
St. Johns County Sheriff David B. Shoar says that he’s appreciative of the compassion being shown to Deputy Anderson’s family after their loss and he thanks Bubba for considering them in planning this year’s Bikes for Badges.
On this morning’s program, Bubba suggested that he and Executive producer Brent Hatley fly up to St. Johns County and make the presentation from the Bubba the Love Sponge® Foundation directly to Anderson’s widow and family members after this weekend’s events.
This is the second consecutive year for “Bubba’s Bikes for Badges” held by the non-profit organization, Bubba the Love Sponge® Foundation. Bubba began the Foundation in 2008 to help raise awareness and channel donations to worthy community causes and victims. Among charity’s donations was more than $50,000 distributed within the past year to the families of four Tampa Bay area law enforcement members who lost their lives or were critically injured in the line of duty.
Bubba’s Bikes for Badges takes place this Saturday, May 22nd from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Jim’s Harley-Davidson, 2805 54th Avenue North in St. Petersburg, and will feature a motorcycle ride, a silent auction with memorabilia donated by various athletes and celebrities, a 50/50 raffle, a poker crawl including a $2,500 cash prize, a bike show, and a bikini bike wash. Registration for riders will open at 8:30 a.m.
