The 2nd Annual Administrator Town Hall meetings continue with the Civic Roundtable Meeting being held Monday morning and we encourage all Historic City News readers to attend.
County Administrator Michael D. Wanchick is holding the public information meetings throughout St. Johns County this month.
Wanchick told Historic City News, “Last summer I invited our citizens to Town Hall meetings as the County faced very difficult budget decisions. The community dialogue and feedback that ensued was critical to the final 2010 budget adopted by the County Commission.”
Wanchick says that he does not anticipate a millage rate or tax increase this year, however, he does believe enhanced communication with the community is still extremely important, especially in relation to financial challenges that will be facing the County in future years.
“Beyond the essential services the County Commission is legally required to provide, the annual budget should reflect the desires of the community,” Wanchick said. “So it is important for us to understand your desires.”
While the Town Hall presentation will discuss the 2011 budget, it will also begin to examine a long-term financial strategy for St. Johns County and pose questions for the future. Each meeting will include a time for questions and answers.
“I also encourage you to submit comments through the email and telephone number below,” said Wanchick. “We will compile your feedback and present it to the County Commission prior to their formal budget public hearings.”
