Civil rights museum committee meets May 27th

Although the meeting is closed to the public, Gwendolyn Duncan, President of the 40th ACCORD, Inc., wants Historic City News readers to know that the first meeting of the newly formed Civil Rights Museum Committee will be held on May 27th.

Progress has been slow for members of the Lincolnville community and others who have long hoped St. Augustine could be home to a historically significant and accurate Civil Rights Museum.

However, Duncan says, this committee, which will be chaired by Richard P. Burton, Sr., and co-chaired by J.T. Johnson, is steadfast in its goal to bring the museum to the Nation’s Oldest City.

The meeting on May 27th will be held at the First Baptist Church located at 81 St. Francis Street.

A meet-and-greet will begin at 11:00 a.m. with lunch to be served promptly at 11:20 a.m. The committee members will hold their closed business meeting at noon.
