Historic City News readers with an interest in economic development are encouraged to attend a special economic development workshop of the St. Johns County Commission being held Tuesday, December 14th, at 9:00 a.m. in the County Auditorium.
The workshop will provide an update on past and future economic development initiatives of St. Johns County, with a focus on activities and projects that have been completed in the past few years.
County Administrator Michael D. Wanchick announced on Friday, that the findings of a University of North Florida study regarding economic development will be reviewed at the workshop.
The study, commissioned by St. Johns County, examined counties throughout the United States, similar to our size and demographics, and identifies what they are doing to promote economic development.
Wanchick said, “This information will be useful as the County establishes expectations and benchmarks relative to our own economic development activities.”
During the meeting the Commission will discuss the future of economic development in St. Johns County and possible future initiatives.
Wanchick said, “A primary goal of the Commission is strengthening and upgrading our business retention and recruitment program, and the workshop is an important step toward achieving that goal.”
The meeting will be broadcast on GTV.
