Double Stuffed Cabbage Rolls
by Deane Newsome
Here’s the latest recipe posted on our page: Double Stuffed Cabbage Rolls:
Technique: Boil 1 bag Success white or brown rice for directed time, or 2 cups regular rice to yield 2 cups. Set aside. Brown 1 pound 80/20 ground beef, 1 cup diced onions, 1 cup diced bell pepper, lightly salt and pepper to taste and simmer till veggies translucent. Drain Juices then add one jar (24 oz.) Prego Italian Sauce, and prepared rice– simmer for 30 mins.
Boil/simmer 1 cabbage at low temp for 30 minutes as well, lightly seasoned with chicken stock. Peel apart leaves in layers to get your “sheets” of cabbage to roll (once cabbage is cool and manageable). Spoon a small portion into a small sized cooled leaf, roll it to totally cover it. Spoon a smaller portion into a larger leaf and then roll the smaller wrapped on with the larger one to created double wrapped rolls. Repeat until out of filling.
Optional to top with cheddar or mozzarella cheese, or another jar of pasta sauce, or both, then bake in middle rack of oven on 400 degrees till heated through.
