Historic City News received word that the chief cook at the Flagler County Inmate Facility was arrested today by Flagler County Sheriff’s detectives on charges of introducing contraband into an inmate facility.
48 year-old Louie Scavetta who resides on Beachway Drive in Palm Coast, had been under investigation for a month following reports that he brought controlled substances in while he worked at the inmate facility to pass on to inmates.
Sunday detectives, using an undercover deputy, contacted Scavetta and gave him oxycodone placebos that he was to pass on to an inmate Monday. In return, he was to keep a portion of the drugs. He was arrested shortly after 1 p.m. Sunday in the parking lot of a Palm Coast drug store where he had arranged to meet the undercover deputy.
He is charged with attempted introduction of contraband into a detention facility; attempted delivery of a controlled substance into a detention facility, and introduction of contraband into a detention facility.
Scavetta is an employee of Trinity Food Services, a private company which contracts with the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office to provide food service to the inmate facility. The investigation continues and additional charges may be filed.
“Our detectives responded immediately when they received a tip that Scavetta was bringing contraband into the facility. As result, this arrest was made today,” said Flagler County Sheriff Donald W. Fleming.
Scavetta was being held on $30,000 bond Sunday evening.
