More excitement reported to Historic City News from The Players Championship yesterday — this time, a 36-year-old man who was attending the second round of play was arrested and charged with disorderly intoxication and resisting arrest without violence after being subdued with a Taser.
Course marshals notified the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office that Travis Parmelee, who resides at 2627 Barrett Road in Jacksonville, was yelling at golfers and being belligerent near the 11th hole.
Captain Dave Messenger says officers responded and attempted to calm Parmelee down, but he became more combative. Officers tried to take Parmelee into custody, but when they attempted to place him in an “escort hold” he resisted and was drive stunned, once, by Sergeant Fiveash.
Parmelee, who was booked last night at about 6:45 p.m., is in the County Detention Facility this morning pending his first appearance hearing. Bond is set at $300.
