Local St. Augustine reporters at Historic City News have learned that an employee of a downtown restaurant was robbed shortly past midnight this morning while he was sitting inside his car.
St. Augustine police officer Cory Weber responded to the call from 98 St. George Street at about 12:24 this morning. The victim, an employee of the Columbia Restaurant, had just finished work and was sitting outside in the restaurant parking lot.
The victim told police that he was inside of his car with the driver window open when an unknown person came up to his open driver-side window then shoved something cold and hard against his chest.
The robber told the victim to give him all of his money; and then reached into the victim’s shirt pocket and retrieved $47, a time slip, and the victim’s name tag.
Community Affairs Officer Barbara Stevens of the St. Augustine Police Department reports that the victim was shaken but uninjured in the robbery. A search was done of the area without success, however, the investigation is continuing.
