First Amendment Foundation announced to Historic City News reporters that they will present their 2010 Sunshine Seminar in St. Augustine on Monday, October 4, 2010 at World Golf Village.
The focus of the seminar is Florida’s open meetings and public records laws and will include a presentation specific to media law.
Barbara A. Petersen, President of First Amendment Foundation, will conduct the morning presentation followed by Jennifer Mansfield and members of The Florida Bar Media & Communications Committee.
Registration for this seminar is required; cost for First Amendment Foundation members is $10.00 per member — non-members, $25.00 each. A discounted rate of $10.00 is extended to students, with a valid student ID, and, $15.00 for government employees, with proof of employment. To receive continuing education credit for attending this Sunshine Seminar, add $50.00 per CLER certificate of completion.

Barbara A. Petersen is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia and Florida State University College of Law as well as president of Florida’s First Amendment Foundation. Before taking her current position in 1995, Petersen was staff attorney for the Joint Committee on Information Technology Resources of the Florida Legislature, where she worked exclusively on public records legislation and issues. A passionate advocate of the public’s right to oversee its government, Petersen is the author of numerous reports and articles on open government issues. She currently serves as president of the National Freedom of Information Coalition and was recently appointed chair of Florida’s Commission on Open Government Reform.
