Flagler College Film Festival begins screenings

Director of Public Information Brian Thompson informed local Historic City News reporters that Flagler College will un-spool the first edition of the Flagler College Film Festival September 30th to October 3rd, with 22 films from around the world and right next door.

Partially funded by the Arnold and Barbara Grevior Fund for Film Studies, Flagler College Film Festival will present films in five venues on campus and downtown St. Augustine.

The films will represent 11 countries. Screenings will take place in the Flagler College Auditorium, Gamache-Koger Theater in the Student Center, The Crisp-Ellert Art Museum, outdoors on the college’s West Lawn and at the St Augustine Art Association Gallery, 22 Marine St.

Tickets are $3 with a current Flagler College ID, $7 for seniors and other faculty and $9 general admission. Admission to the children’s film is $1 per child and $3 for accompanying adults. For the environmental film, “Turtle: The Incredible Journey,” tickets are just $3 for children. The Festival accepts all major credit cards as well as checks and cash.

Among the offerings are two films by Gamble Rogers including “The Waterbearer” and “Homegrown Philosophy;” the children’s film “Azur & Asmar;” the eco-friendly “Turtle: The Incredible Journey;” seven American independent films; eight foreign films and five documentaries.

The Flagler College Film Festival is programmed and produced by The Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival in partnership with Flagler College. The festival enjoys the support of The Singh Foundation, Carrabbas Grille, Barefoot Wines, Hilton Hotel, The Bank of St Augustine and Eastman Environmental.
