Flagler College reported to Historic City News that they will host the inaugural Flagler Creates! art festival on Saturday, November 20th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the Flagler College West Lawn, according to Director of Public Information Brian Thompson.
Flagler Creates! is an art festival that will let Flagler students, faculty, staff, alumni and Flagler families to display and sell items that they have handmade or created. All funds collected from application and artist rental fees will be donated to the Flagler College Annual Fund.
In addition to handmade items, Flagler faculty will have the opportunity to sell books that they have authored, and some will be holding book signings as well.
Flagler Creates! has evolved from an idea by Marsha LeDuke, administrative support for the counseling center, and Shonas Kibbee, assistant registrar, who thought that it would be a great idea to hold a handmade festival involving the Flagler community.
“This is a huge opportunity for local business owners and specialty shop owners to come discover new and unique handmade items to carry in their stores,” said LeDuke. “Our intent is to help promote the Flagler community and to encourage and give the opportunity to Flagler students, staff, faculty and alumni to exhibit and sell their work and to help the Flagler College Annual Fund with its growth.”
It will also serve as a fundraiser for student clubs at Flagler.
“We’re trying to help foster the entrepreneurial spirit so eloquently displayed by Henry Flagler by offering this opportunity to the Flagler community,” said LeDuke.
Although applications to sell handmade and created items are limited to the Flagler Community, the festival is free and open to the public.
