Without forsaking “the potato” on the official seal of Flagler County, a bright, new, more colorful logo has been adopted by our neighbors to the south that is hoped to attract attention commercially and simplify branding for agencies in county government.
The circular seal of Flagler County is intended for official, legal and ceremonial purposes as stated in the Florida Statutes. The emblem of a single potato has been with the County for over 93 years. The seal reflects Flagler’s agri-business roots and was developed when the county incorporated in 1917.
Unfortunately, Flagler County has realized that the rather bare circular image of a spud is none too attractive and does not provide the instant recognition of a distinctive, colorful logo.
The Flagler County Seal will not change and will always reflect the county’s heritage. The new logo will be used to create recognition in Flagler County publications and marketing materials, its economic development initiatives, and at specific locations. The goal was to create a logo that will embody the spirit of the County, while creating a stronger brand and image of the area’s natural beauty to those less familiar with what Flagler County has to offer.
The Flagler County Commission sponsored a logo contest, similar to the process that was used when the City of Palm Coast and the Flagler County Educational Foundation developed their logos.
