The St. Augustine local news desk at Historic City News has learned that the Saint Augustine Art Association and local artist, Jean Wagner Troemel, have teamed up to present an extraordinary event, “For the Love of Art.”
Troemel has generously donated over 50 of her original paintings to sell for the benefit of the Art Association’s Educational Outreach and Youth Programs such as the Annual Tactile Art Show.
The exhibit ranges from St. Augustine landscapes to abstracts.
Troemel made a generous donation to establish the Art Association Endowment Fund this fall and launched the Jean Wagner Troemel Best of Show Award. The $300 award will be given in perpetuity for outstanding artistic achievement at the Art Association’s monthly exhibits, and $500 at the Honor’s Show.
Over the span of her decades-long career, Troemel has produced more than 1,000 paintings including 600 commissioned portraits. A Fellow in the Royal Society of Art in London, she founded the local P.A.ST.A. (Professional Artists of St. Augustine) Gallery and was the catalyst for starting the downtown “art hops” now known as First Friday Art Walks. Troemel recently completed portraits of Mayor Joe Boles and Council on Aging Director, Cathy Brown, and several of her paintings received top St. Augustine Art Association honors during the last season.
A VIP Patron’s Preview and Benefit will be held on February 5, from 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. includes exclusive viewing, hors d’oeuvres, music, and cocktails catered by Culinary Outfitters.
Admission is $75 (black tie optional). Special reserved parking for Patrons.
