Much of St. Augustine’s rich history is reflected in its historic structures.
When historic properties are properly cared for and rehabilitated, they make important contributions to the quality and variety of our environment.
They provide unique settings for housing, education, businesses, shopping and entertainment.
To encourage the care and preservation of these resources, the City of St. Augustine and St. Johns County have recently modified codes to offer a ten (10) year ad valorem tax exemption on rehabilitations, restorations or renovations for qualifying historic properties.
Property owners are encouraged to take advantage of this benefit.
Those in the local building trades and real estate industry are encouraged to become knowledgeable about the program to assist property owners.
