Hit and run accident lands man in jail

5:00 traffic along Avenida Menendez was interrupted last evening when a Masters Drive resident, who St. Augustine Police tell local Historic City News reporters was intoxicated, crashed his 1999 Ford pickup truck into another vehicle then fled the scene.

After a brief chase that involved both patrol and bicycle officers, 35-year-old Gershon Arick Clendenin who lives at 53 Masters Drive, was taken into custody at ABC Liquors located at the corner of King Street and Ponce de Leon Boulevard.

Charged with driving under the influence and leaving the scene of a crash involving damage to vehicle or property, Clendenin is being held at the St. Johns County Detention Facility in lieu of $5000.00 bond.
