Last day to register to vote only a week away
Supervisor of Elections Penny Halyburton reminds all Historic City News readers that reside in St. Johns County that Monday, July 26, 2010, is the last day to register to be able to vote in the August 24th Primary Election.
“Voter Registration books close 29 days prior to each election,” Halyburton said. “In order to be eligible to vote in an election, you must be registered prior to the deadline.”

Printed Florida Voter Registration Applications are also available at the following locations:
– St. Johns County Supervisor of Elections Office
– St. Johns County Tax Collector Offices
– St. Johns County Public Libraries Branch Locations
– State agencies that provide public assistance and serve persons with disabilities
– County Governmental Offices
– Armed Forces Recruitment Offices
To register to vote in Florida, you must:
– Be a United States citizen.
– Be a Florida resident.
– Be at least 18 years old. You may pre-register if you are 16 years of age. You will be able to vote when you turn 18 years of age.
– Not now be adjudicated mentally incapacitated, with respect to voting in Florida, or any other state.
– Not have been convicted of a felony in Florida, or any other state, without your civil rights having been restored.
– Not claim the right to vote in another county or state.
