Historic City News local reporters learned about upcoming National Night Out activities; going on at St. Augustine Beach and in Palm Coast on Tuesday, August 3rd.
The St. Augustine Beach Police Department hosts their 27th annual event from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the St. Augustine Beach Pier Pavilion located at 350 Beach Boulevard.
The St. Augustine Beach crime and drug prevention event, which promotes police-community partnerships and crime prevention awareness, will include information about the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, Attorney Generals Office’s “Seniors vs. Crime” initiative, Betty Griffin House and others locally available services and programs.
Food will be provided by local restaurants, with music and a raffle.
Young artists who know their way around the sidewalk canvas with multi-colored chalk are being invited to join Flagler County’s “National Night Out” that is being held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Flagler Palm Coast High School on State Road 100 in Palm Coast.
The Palm Coast crime prevention education event is being co-sponsored by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office and national sponsor Target, with the assistance of the Flagler County School District.
A new addition to the Palm Coast event will be a sidewalk art contest for youngsters 15 years-old and younger. John Jones, manger of Flagler County’s Target Store, will be bringing 500 boxes of chalk for the budding artists. A three-judge panel will choose the winner in three age divisions.
“We are pleased to partner with Target again this year. The event continues to grow and I know everyone who comes out for the evening will go home with some valuable, new information,” said Sheriff Donald W. Fleming.
Target is participating as a national sponsor of the 27th Annual National Night Out marking the sixth year of its partnership with the National Association of Town Watch.
“This will be the third year that our local Target store has partnered with the Sheriff’s Office to bring this to our community,” said Jones.
