New Visitors & Convention Bureau contract

Assistant County Attorney Regina Ross, will present Item 3 of Tuesday’s agenda before the County Commission which is a resolution approving the terms and condition of a new contract between the St. Johns County Visitors & Convention Bureau and St. Johns County Board of Commissioners.

A new Agreement has been drafted between St. Johns County Visitors & Convention Bureau and St. Johns County Board of Commissioners for the general purpose of providing professional advertising, marketing and promotional service to attract tourists and convention activity to all parts of the County.

The Visitors & Convention Bureau currently has an Agreement to provide these services, which will terminate on the effective date of the new contract.

The duration of the contract shall run from the date of signing through the remainder of this fiscal year and until the end of fiscal year 2013, with an option to renew annually.

The Tourist Development Council reviewed and considered the proposed contract at their Special Meeting on January 25, 2010.

The County has determined that such advertising, marketing and promotional services by the VCB is a proper public purpose and is in the best interests of the residents of the Area. The Visitors & Convention Bureau operates separately from the Tourist Development Council and they have relocated their offices from the County Government Complex at 500 San Sebastian View to a stand-alone location at 29 Old Mission Avenue.

Staff recommends that the commission adopt a resolution approving the terms and conditions of the new contract between St. Johns County Visitors & Convention Bureau and St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners, terminating the existing agreement upon execution of the new Agreement, and authorizing the County Administrator, or designee, to execute the new Agreement, on behalf of the County.

The Commission will meet Tuesday, February 2, 2010 – 9:00 A.M. at the St. Johns County Auditorium located at 500 San Sebastian View.
