Jeremy Robshaw, Public Information Officer with St. Johns County Fire Rescue, informed Historic City News local reporters that emergency personnel responded to a brush fire in the 1900 block of Collins Avenue this afternoon.
Robshaw reported that what started as a small fire grew to be just larger than an acre in size.
“No structures caught fire,” Robshaw said. “Nearby homes in the residential area were threatened, however, firefighters were able to extinguish the fire just before 3:00 p.m.”
There were no injuries reported.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation by St. Johns County Fire Rescue.
