Flagler College reported to Historic City News that Dr. Daniel T. Orlovsky, noted international scholar of Russian and Soviet history, will present a public lecture on campus October 7th.
The lecture, sponsored by Flagler College’s chapter of the national honorary history society Phi Alpha Theta, will be held in the Ringhaver Student Center located at 50 Sevilla Street, Room 125 at 5:00 p.m.
Orlovsky is professor of History at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, and will speak about his recent research concerning the Russian Revolution of 1917.
The subject matter will be included in his forthcoming book, “Russian Democratic Revolution.”
His focus will be the Russian Provisional Government prior to the Bolshevik October Revolution and its political and military dilemmas at the end of World War I.
Orlovsky is the author of numerous articles and books, which include “The Limits of Reform: The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Imperial Russia, 1802-1881” and “Beyond Soviet Studies.”
He is currently chairman of the board of directors of the National Council for Russian and East European Research.
