Historic City News has learned that the 3rd annual National Marina Day celebration will be this Saturday, June 12, 2009 from 10am-2pm at Camachee Cove marina.
Brothers of the Coasts pirates will raid the harbor on their pirate ship and demonstrate cannon firing as well as sword fighting.
Activities for the day include: educational & environmental displays by local associations, boat displays by local and national law enforcement in addition to contests and games for adults and children alike.
Contests and games include: blindfolded dinghy race, nautical knot tying, lasso the piling, homemade sailboat race, casting contest, golf game, and a dunking booth. Entertainment will include a live disc jockey.
There is no charge for attendance or participation in any event.
Food and drinks will be available for purchase at the event.
The event is made possible by the Marine Industries Association of Northeast Florida and Camachee Island as well as other sponsors.
